Sound FC Tryouts FAQ
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR TRYOUTS?
Online registration is available and highly recommended. Pre-registration expedites player check-in at the first tryout session. Online pre-registration closes 24 hours prior to the start of tryouts for your age group.
Walk-up registration is allowed if you are unable to pre-register. The walk-up registration fee is $30.
WHAT HAPPENS AT TRYOUTS?
Teams are formed through a tryout and player placement process. Each player is assigned a unique number to be worn at every session. Coaches evaluate players based on skill and ability demonstrated during tryouts and, for returning players, performance throughout the season.
WHAT DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING?
- Soccer shoes
- Shin guards
- Water bottle
- Soccer ball
- Weather-appropriate clothing
New players must bring a copy of a birth certificate or passport to the first session (returned after verification). Players will be given a unique tryout number at their first session and must bring it to subsequent sessions. Returning players should not wear any Sound FC uniform pieces.
RESCHEDULED OR CANCELED SESSIONS
Sessions may be rescheduled or canceled due to weather or field availability. Updates will be posted on the Sound FC website and shared via email for pre-registered players. Please also check Sound FC social media for last-minute updates.
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO ATTEND ALL SESSIONS?
Attendance at all sessions is recommended to allow full evaluation. Players must attend at least one session. If conflicts, illness, or injury prevent attendance, contact the Age Group Head Coach or Director of Coaching to arrange alternatives.
IF A PLAYER IS INJURED
Injured players must still register and bring a doctor’s note outlining the injury and estimated return date. Alternate evaluation opportunities will be coordinated with the coaching staff when possible.
HOW ARE ROSTER OFFERS MADE?
Roster offers may begin during tryouts and continue after sessions conclude. Coaches will contact selected players by phone. A-team rosters are completed first, followed by B, C, etc. All players who try out will receive a phone call regardless of selection.
If you have not been contacted within three days of the final session, please email BMitals@soundfc.org.
COMMITMENT & REFUND POLICY
Accepting a roster spot is a commitment for one full seasonal year. Sound FC maintains a strict no-refund policy. Once committed, players are responsible for the full year of fees.
RETURNING PLAYER PREFERENCE
Returning players are not given preference. Selection is based solely on performance at tryouts.
FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid is available for families in need. Applications must be submitted prior to tryouts or on the first day. Applications and instructions are available on the Sound FC website.
REGISTRATION AFTER ACCEPTANCE
After accepting a roster spot, families will receive registration instructions via email within 48 hours. Players must be fully registered before participating in team activities.
TEAM FORMATION MEETING
After registration, teams will hold a formation meeting to complete paperwork, submit team fees, assign volunteer roles, and discuss the season plan. A parent or guardian is required to attend.
UNIFORMS
Adidas uniforms are ordered online through Capelli. Families will receive ordering instructions once team rosters are finalized.
