Why does my child have to remove an earring from newly pierced ear?Printable

Washington Youth Soccer rules stipulate that players can not wear jewelry. Safety of the players is the top priority for the Washington Youth Soccer and Washington State Referee Association (WASRC). In the case of pierced ears, there have been several incidents over the years involving the earrings. In one case, the ball struck the side of the head of the player wearing an earring; the earring pierced through the artery behind the ear and resulted in a major catastrophe. NYSA referees are required to enforce this rule. Taping over the earrings is no longer acceptable.
